Individual J-Term: Brookwood Day 8

Happy Tuesday, it has been one busy day! After a welcomed breakfast of bagels and sausage, I walked to work with Mr. Bubba and Mr. Steven. Today, I worked at the Plant Shop! The plant shop, located within the warehouse, is in charge of filling pots, planting seedlings, and transporting them to greenhouses. There is constant work. While I was there, we mainly filled pots and planted hundreds of seedlings. We were constantly on our feet, and I loved it. It was super fun operating the potting machine and talking to the suprivisors Mr. Andrew and Ms. Daine about how they came to Brookwood. Both of them came from very different backgrounds; Mr. Andrew was a guide within the Wyoming mountains for three years and farm hand, Ms, Daine was apart of the U.S Army. It was incredible to hear how God did incredible things to guide them to Brookwood.

During the Plant Shop, I was also interviewed citizens. I had the absolute pleasure to interview Mr. Steven, Ms. Bee, Ms. Monica, and Ms. Karen. We had lovely conversations about Brookwood, how they got here, and most importantly Jesus and their relationship with him.

After the Plant Shop, I had activities! Today was worship karaoke and dance. Here we did, very old songs and bands, like waymaker and newsboy. I always love activities for their are fun and interactive. It is a great way to get to know citizens better, and see the joy their favorite hobbies bring. For example on of the citizens Bubba, usually is more quiet and obersvational but during worship karaoke he was laughing, dancing, and singing away! There is no greater joy than that.

Once finished with karaoke, I headed off to the Jamail house for dinner. At the Jamail house I had a wonderful dinner of roasted carrots, mashed potatoes, and pulled beef. I had the pleasure to talk to the house suprivisor and citizens about their time at Brookwood, while having a great meal.

Next, it was time for Brookwood Community College night. This event is for the staff to present the community college class they are leading, this is everything from history of the Astros to fitness with a bodybuilder. Their all twelve classes and all of them are amazing. During this event I was recruited as the referee and given a wonderfully large hoop-skirt referee costume. I would be up on stage settling "arguments" with the staff about who would go first, through fun competitions such as dance off, rock paper scissors, and the crowd. Everyone had a great time and this event and it was exciting to hear other opportunities Brookwood is going to offer.

Overall today was another great day. My favorite part was interviewing the citizen about their time at Brookwood and their faith. I had great conversations and a wonderful time hearing their testimonies and faith journey.
