Individual J-Term: Brookwood Day 6
Happy Sunday! Today was another incredible day. Like Saturday, I had a late start, around 8:00 am, before heading out to the community center for group activities. The community center, which was recently renovated, is mainly used for Brookwood Community College classes, weighted fitness, and communal hangouts. The facility is incredible, with a Star Wars pinball machine, lots of open space, Skee-Ball, and so much more. Here, I mainly did puzzles with citizens and attempted a 500-piece puzzle (I barely did 50 pieces by the end).
When everyone from the community center went back home, I headed to the Kilroy's for lunch. Here I got to see again my friend Max, and meet new friends! We talked about their time at Brookwood, Football, and what they love to do. The Kilroy house is one of the smallest, with 7 citizens living there.
Next, I had the absolute privilege of interviewing Mr. Rick about his testimony, his relationship with Jesus, and his time at Brookwood. We had a lovely interview, and he was very gracious with all my mistakes for being a first-time interviewer. It was a lovely conversation about faith, Christ, and how we can serve others and Him better. I can't wait to continue to interview more citizens and see what God does through this!
After our interview, I went on a bike ride and walked around Brookwood, decompressing and spending time in prayer and the Word. This was very relaxing and refreshing, reminding me why I am here at Brookwood; for Christ and his Kingdom.
Feeling refreshed, I headed over to church. Today's message, led by Pastor Anthony, was about how we are more than enough. During the sermon with Mr. Wilson, I was helping with the audio and music. His message was very touching, based in scripture, and incredibly interactive. Using visuals, movement, and song to create a sermon for people of all developmental levels.
Overall, today was a great day. I was able to hear Mr. Rick's testimony, learn more about interviewing, and able to learn skills and techniques from Pastor Anthony's sermon.
Wait and try an 1000 piece puzzle and you’ll know real pain 🧩
