Individual J-Term: Brookwood Day 10

My last full day at Brookwood was a fun but bittersweet day. I began the day by working at the Green Team in horticulture. The work they do is similar to the Plant Shop, yet with a much closer citizen-to-community member ratio. Today there were 6 citizens and two community members. This is to enable more individual attention to the citizens, helping build muscle memory and more precise fine motor skills. What we worked on today was, filling pots, planting seedlings, and transporting them to the greenhouse.

    Next, I went to the community center. Here, led by Pastor Anthony, we learned more about God. Specifically from Jeremahaih 29:11, "God knows His plan for us." We talked about how God is always here and near us, and he has a plan for us. We colored the scripture together and them wrote on the back what our plans were for the future. This was used by Anthony to help convey how God creates plans for us too, though his plans are much better.

    After the community center, Pastor Anthony and I went to the Inn for dinner. There we had wonderful spaghetti, cornbread, and salad. I had the privilege to sit next to Mr. Amando and we had a lovely conversation about what we love to do and eat.

    With a full belly, I headed off to Basketball practice. Mr. Greggie took a rest this afternoon, so Pastor Anthony lead it. We did dribbling drills, weaving drills, and then 5 vs 5 basketball games. Here I mainly sat on the sidelines cheering everyone on and hanging out with Mr. David and Mr. Chris.

    Overall, today was mainly a day spent time with the citizens continuing to deepen our friendships. It is honestly going to be very hard to leave Brookwood for I have had such an incredible time. The community of love and Christ is incredible and there isn't anything quite like it. Luckily I have one more half-day, and even when I have to leave it will only be a see you later.
